Solids

What is a solid?

A solid is a state of matter which is fixed in its shape, mass, and volume. Serving to be one of the four fundamental states of matter. Molecules are compressed and temperature will only commit very small changes in its volume, as it cannot be pressed together any further.

How can a Solid change?

Since a solid is at a state which is fixed. This means molecules will stay in place until they are given enough energy to move again. Because of this, no matter how much cold temperature is applied; It will not change phase nor matter.

When put in a room with a higher temperature than the element's freezing point, the molecules begin to break apart and move around, meaning that it will slowly turn into a liquid as the structure of molecules is destroyed.
